Le voleur de pensées 2 : Le manuscrit d’Alexandrie

We have the girl, find us the manuscript! This disturbing message triggers a race against the clock in the country of hieroglyphs. Étienne searches throughout Egypt to find the abductor of his uncle's fiancé and also an ancient book that will probably help to find who was responsible for the destruction of Alexandria's ancient library. But when his talent of reading one's thoughts would really be helpful, inexplicably, Étienne cannot use it. From the new Alexandria library to a Sinai monastery, on their way to the Khan el-Khalili's market in Cairo, how far will he have to go to uncover the suspects? Because of his momentary handicap, the character has to count on the help of the hostage's younger brother, Farid, to guide him in this estrange country. Thanks to him and many meetings with numerous suspects, he becomes aware of the culture, the language and the people's mentality and learns about the mythic and ancient history of Bibliotheca Alexandrina. In this novel of numerous adventures, Étienne has to, once again, uncover the true nature of the people he meets.

La bibliothèque, construite sur le bord de la mer, ressemble à un cadran solaire, tout de verre et d'aluminium, sur lequel la lumière éclatante du soleil se réfléchit. Lorsque nous y pénétrons, la grandeur du lieu m'émerveille.

D'immenses colonnes, rappelant étrangement des papyrus géants, dominent la salle de lecture sur plusieurs étages. Nous nous dirigeons vers l'accueil pour demander à rencontrer monsieur Ali. En l'attendant, j'en profite pour observer les gens.

Certains parcourent un livre du regard, tandis que d'autres sont installés devant un ordinateur. Le directeur de la bibliothèque vient enfin nous trouver. Après nous avoir chaleureusement serré la main, cet homme de taille moyenne nous conduit, d'un pas étonnamment leste, jusqu'à son bureau. Il ferme la porte et nous met tout de suite à l'aise.
