— Cours, petit ! Nous arrivons !
Fusil à la main, quatre mariniers accourent, mettent un genou à terre et tirent. L’animal tombe au pied d’Antoine, dont le visage blêmit à vue d’oeil. Son coeur s’emballe, mais il est hors de question pour lui de partager son angoisse avec ses compagnons. Philippe le prend dans ses bras et lui murmure à l’oreille :
— Tu as le droit d’éprouver de la peur, mon grand.
— Quelle belle prise ! s’exclame le marinier Golet, sans se soucier du malaise du garçon.
Nous allons régaler l’équipage dans les prochains jours.
— Alors, tu voulais de l’aventure, petit ! demande Geoffroy, en lui tapotant l’épaule.
