Terra incognita 3 : Le fantôme du caporal poltron

Following a storm, eight shipwreck children are split into two groups and find themselves on opposite shores of the same island. On one side, a military camp of phantoms forced to relive annually the failures of their Corporal. On the other side, a complete society paralysed by an absurd democracy. Some are condemned to death, and the others are unconsciously doomed to massacre civilians. Will Jessica, Miguel and their friends find death, lose their hearts or their entire souls? Even though Le fantôme du caporal Poltron is an action and adventure novel, the themes of leadership are presented in all its forms: the responsibilities taken by frailer shoulders because they need guidance, the nonchalance and non commitment of management, abuse of power, the consequences of the absence of a leader, etc. Between a Corporal who ignores everything about his men and a puppet King who is unable to make any decisions, the shipwreck children will have to take control of their own destiny… without taking the entire island to its end.

Le corps de Jessica gît sur le sable chaud de l'une des plages d'une grande île. Le soleil a déjà séché son pantalon court, sa chemise trop grande et ses longs cheveux châtains. Seuls sa position et quelques lambeaux d'algues abandonnés autour de ses épaules témoignent de son difficile périple. À côté d'elle se trouve une partie du mât, ainsi que des traces de pas, trop petites pour être celles d'un adulte. Jessica redresse la tête, laissant une empreinte parfaite de son profil sur le sol. S'appuyant sur ses coudes, la jeune fille regarde autour d'elle; ses yeux balaient les environs comme dans un rêve. Elle s'attarde d'abord au reste du mât, auquel Erwin et elle se sont accrochés désespérément durant la tempête.

Elle remarque ensuite une pente escarpée, garnie de quelques arbres feuillus et couverte d'une végétation plus foncée, différente de celle à laquelle elle est habituée.
